Taking a Payment

The app lets you collect a payment in just a few taps. When you start a new payment, you first choose how you want to collect it.

Choose how you collect​

On the New Payment screen you'll see the ways you can collect a payment:

Tap to Pay on iPhone: Accept a contactless card or device in person, using just your iPhone. No extra hardware needed.

Send a link: Send a payment link and let the customer pay themselves.

Entering the amount​

After choosing how you'll collect, enter the amount for the payment.

  1. Step 1

    On the New Payment screen, choose Tap to Pay on iPhone.

  2. Step 2

    Type the amount on the Enter Amount screen.

  3. Step 3

    Confirm to continue to the tap screen.

Once the amount is confirmed, the app is ready to accept a contactless payment.

  1. Step 1

    Ask your customer to hold their contactless card, phone, or watch near the top of your iPhone where it says Hold Here to Pay.

  2. Step 2

    Keep the devices close together until you see the confirmation.

  3. Step 3

    When you see Done, the payment has been read successfully.

Tap to Pay on iPhone works with contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other contactless wallets.

Payment results​

After the payment is processed, you'll see the result:

Successful Payment: The payment went through. You're all set.

Failed Payment: The payment didn't go through. You'll see Retry the payment with another card. Tap Tap to Pay on iPhone to try again with a different card or device.

Successful and failed payments are added to your transactions automatically. You can review it any time from Reporting.
